May 2004: Plot Seeding

May 28th and 29th were long busy days for Matthew Wiens and Jackie Pridham as they race against time and the impending rain which began just as they finished planting. Both are students at the University of Manitoba’s Plant Science Department and are working with Dr. Martin Entz, who has been involved with organic crop production studies for quite a few years. There are 3 different plots set up here on our farm to study a variety of green manures, different wheats and wheat companion planting combinations. We’ll keep you posted as to the different combinations as well as photos of their progress.
