This is a photo of the dividing line of fields 10A – 10B. The black flax field in the foreground looked the same as the alfalfa field in the back ground last year. I just broke up the field so I could sow it to flax this spring. I got lucky and had a perfect May for doing that. Normally, I would break it up the previous fall, but didn’t get it done last year due mainly to weather. The alfalfa was sowed last year but nothing was harvested. I mowed the entire field just as the thistles were in bud and it seems to have been quite effective in controlling them as well as leaving a great soil building mulch.
