Here I am counting weeds and wheat plants for the seeding rate experiment. Our wheat this year seems to be holding up really well under the recent heat and drought-like conditions. I summer-fallowed this field last year which in my mind means cultivating the weeds down when they start to flower during the growing season. I'm not keen on having a field left black at any time. About half of the field received composted manure as well. Just as a point of interest, I had some volunteer Finola hemp come up in a couple of places and the wheat overtook it. I don’t think I’d of believed it if I hadn’t seen it myself.
