OACC Brookside Field Site – Nova Scotia Agricultural College (NSAC)Truro, Nova Scotia Colorado Potato Beetle Control
The adult beetles had started migrating from the decimated potato plots to other crops and were starting to seek overwintering sites. To reduce populations in future years, we needed to control these adults before they started overwintering. We decided to put out bait piles of potatoes and then torch the feeding beetles on a daily basis. Next spring we will plant an early potato trap crop where we will torch the returning adults.
