Striped cucumber beetle. Photo by Roxanne Beavers

The major pest problem for oilseed pumpkin was the striped cucumber beetle. These beetles attack the foliage of young plants and will also eat mature pumpkin flesh. Two generations were observed; in July, beetles caused major damage to the plants, while those observed in October only caused superficial damage to the fruit.
