Organic farmers are asked to use certified organic seed when it is available. However, the supply of organic seed for some vegetable cultivars is limited, and a farmer's preferred cultivar may not be available from organic seed. These photos are from the second year of a research trial that tested certified organic seed for different cultivars of carrot and broccoli. The cultivars were planted on different organic farms across PEI, NB, and NS (including the Brookside site). Seeds for the trial were donated by companies including Vesey's Seeds, Johnny's, William Dam and Bejo.
