OACC Brookside Field Site – Nova Scotia Agricultural College (NSAC)Truro, Nova Scotia OACC Field Day 2006
Seeding wheat between carrot rows as bait for wireworm; Wireworm has
been a problem for us, and wireworm is known to enjoy munching on carrots.
In an attempt to reduce wireworm damage in the carrot variety trial, we
planted wheat between the carrot rows to act as bait and draw the wireworm
away from the carrots. We later trimmed the wheat back to avoid shading
and competition with the carrots.
