Comparison of growth, nutrition, and productivity of tomato, cucumber and sweet pepper on organic media of varying composition, supplemented with liquid organic fertilizersCurrent and future work at the Greenhouse and Processing Crops Research Centre in Harrow, Ontario
The composition of the growing media will be adjusted on the basis of research experience gained during 2003/2004 and new commercial liquid organic fertilizers will be evaluated.
Emphasis will be placed upon various methods of formulating the growing medium, and the periodical side-dressing of plants with different rates of growing medium throughout the cropping season.
Leading commercial organic media will be introduced, as they become available, as benchmarks in performance trials of the experimentally developed media. Data will be collected on plant growth and nutrition, fruit yield (by grade) and fruit quality.
