Well for starters my name is Sukkasini Thissaverasingan. I was born in Sri Lanka, and then lived in Guyana for seven years and then lived in Jamaica and now I am in Canada doing my Masters. Wow that’s a lot of traveling!!! So I guess I can safely say I am from 2 different cultures.

I used to live with my parents before I came here and I have a one and only lovable sister that's always there for me.

I am an independent person, that likes to have a lot of fun and laughs a lot, but I can be serious and "picky" when its time to do my work. I must admit I do get miserable when I don't get my way and at times I am a bit .... and I do mean a BIT self centered.

Now about my educational and work experience. I received my Associate Degree at 19, and I started to teach at a high school. In my second year of teaching, I started to do my Bachelor’s part time…. not such a good idea to be working and studying. But I did it!!! I graduated with a Bachelor of Technology in Agri-Production & Food Systems Management from the College of Agriculture, Science and Education in 2006 . I can't believe that I have completed 5 years of teaching high school. After I completed my Bachelors part time, I decided to do my Masters full time. I am presently a graduate student at the Nova Scotia Agricultural College doing my graduate studies under the guidance of Dr. Derek Lynch, Canada Research Chair in Organic Agriculture.
