Biointensive Program in Latin America
Ecology Action and the Fundacion Paraguaya, two organizations dedicated
to promoting sustainable, small-scale agriculture, are pleased to announce
an exciting opportunity for students to learn the techniques of the
GROW BIOINTENSIVE method of sustainable, organic agricultural design
and production, through an active, hands-on experience in Latin America.
The GROW BIOINTENSIVE international internship/training program will
be held in from August 20 to November 10, 2007 at the San Francisco
Agricultural School in Benjamín Aceval, Paraguay.
GROW BIOINTENSIVE is a food-raising system that not only considers
organic food production but also how to assure long-term soil fertility.
Its design contemplates the use of the smallest spaces possible to produce
a wholesome, complete diet, compost materials for soil fertility, as
well as a modest income.
Participants will gain valuable skills in production, research and
design.
This internship/training program is ideal for students interested in
organic food production, rural development, or environmental protection
and who would like to learn the skills of small-scale closed-system
sustainable farming design and production.
Questions about the program should be directed to Jennifer Ungemach,
Latin American Program Liaison, at jennungemach@growbiointensive.org.
