Deb Foote

Deb was raised in Terrace BC where she resided until 1985. Coming from a family of 7, her parents always kept a large garden of mixed vegetables and small berries. Participation in the maintenance and harvest of the garden was an expectation of all of the children when they were growing up. This was Deb’s first involvement with Organic Foods (and a window into the future though she did not know it at the time).

In May of 1986 Deb joined Wild West Organic Harvest Co-op, a BC based distributors of organic produce and package foods. For twenty years, she held numerous positions in the company including bookkeeper, sales and marketing manager and purchaser. Through these roles she developed relationships within the BC Organic Community, as well as the produce sector in general.

Deb has served as a director with the following organizations: Northern de Lights Food Co-op, Wild West Organic Harvest, CCEC Credit Union and The Canadian Federation of Worker Co-ops, Farm Folk City Folk, Pacific Agricultural Certification Society (PACS) and the Certified Organic Associations of British Columbia (COABC), where she currently sits as President of the Board of Directors.

Deb and her husband own “The Organic Grocer”, a retail store in Surrey where Deb manages the finances. She is also involved in an Eat Local campaign among other local food initiatives.
